Today is the first day of Fall. What does Fall mean to you? For many it means Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and unexplained weight gain. For some reason, many people do not equate a drink with high calories, sugar and carbs they way they would with a food item. They indulge in their morning latte’s without realizing that this drink is hundreds of calories, mega high carb and full of sugar. They then blame their scale going up or their pants not fitting on something out of their control such as hormones, aging, thyroid, menopause, slow metabolism, etc. If you love your lattes but don’t love tight clothes, consider doing one of the following:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
a) Make your own healthy latte;⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
b) Treat yourself just 1x a week, ideally make it after a really tough strength workout & be extra diligent with the rest of your calorie intake that day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here’s a low carb, low cal recipe to try at home:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Put a 1/2c of unsweetened almond milk, & 3 tbsp of pumpkin puree into a cup and microwave for 30 sec. Then add pumpkin pie spice, a dash of cinnamon, and 2 tsp of zero cal maple syrup. Pour this over 8 oz of brewed coffee & enjoy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
