You’re probably eating more than you think! Most people underreport their calorie intake and then get frustrated when they’re not able to achieve their fat loss goals or when they gain weight. ⁣⁣@soheefit explains below!
⁣⁣
The calories can certainly sneak up on you – a little bit of here, a dollop of dressing there… and while these extras may not mean much in isolation, they can add up throughout the day surprisingly quickly. Shown here is an example (sadly, not an exaggeration for some folks) of how what people claim to be eating differentiates quite drastically from what they are truly eating. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
In general, the more overweight you are, the more you tend to underreport your intake – and there are other factors at play as well, including income, level of education, and psychological variables. Individuals can underreport from anywhere between 200 to over 2,000 Calories per day. Heck, even dietitians, who should arguably be some of the best people in the world in tracking their intake, underreport by roughly 200 Calories. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This can certainly be a sensitive topic to clients, patients, and/of friends, and no doubt some may get offended at the suggestion that they may not being fully honest about what and how much they’re eating. However, when it comes to troubleshooting your progress, taking a good, hard look at what your diet really looks like can be crucial to finally seeing forward momentum toward your goal. ⁣
